Meeting Date: Sunday, October 19
Time: 6:00 PM
Place: Room 120
National Transportation Systems Center
55 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02142
Featured Guests: Micha Schattner, Recording Engineer & Music Critic
Subject: Recording experiences and sound editing software
BAS member Micha Schattner has been doing audio recording and production since the 60s. He has recorded literally thousands of live
concerts in the Boston area (sometimes two at one time!), and he contributed 3 tracks to the BAS CD-1 that included the infamous Saint Saens organ symphony
excerpt.
In the 70s, he did audio design work for John Curl and Dennison Electrostatics. He also performed equipment service for Audio Lab
in Cambridge. He has worked for WGBH and WBUR FM radio stations in Boston.
He will talk about his experiences and current projects he's working on, as well as editing software including the new Sequoia Samplitude
professional audio editing system that he is quite enthusiastic about.
Micha is in the 'subjective' camp and has many strong (and sometimes controversial) opinions on aural perception, ABX testing, audio
software, and hardware. A lively discussion is guaranteed.
