1. From Steve Owades
I noticed in the front of the latest
print issue of Sound & Vision (which used to be Stereo Review)
that the magazine has recently been acquired by AVTech Media,
Ltd. (/www.mytimemedia.co.uk/avtech).
This British entity already owned the British audio magazines
HiFi News and HiFi Choice, and they have also now acquired Stereophile
(www.stereophile.com/content/what-happening-stereophile).
I guess times are tough in the publishing biz, and I hope these
titles can continue.
I subscribe to Stereophile because it is
a mix of audiophilia and hard technical tests, fact and fancy.
Like Audio Magazine in the old days. And the Fringe.
I marvel that British seem to thrive with
circulation figures that are low by US standards. I believe
Audio had a circulation 0f 75, 000 when it folded. The venerable
British classical review magazine Gramophone has a circulation
of 25,000. Maybe the English are willing to work for less.
