Acoustical Problems
Charlie Repka will talk about his days at Vanguard,
working on Video Disc, and the broadcast media. He will include demonstrations
and cures for typical problems found in live concert recordings. As a lover
of simple microphone techniques, he will describe the minimalist approach,
play examples of live concert recordings, and demonstrate software tricks
that eliminate acoustical problems. He will also playback examples from
his CD-R's via a Sound Devices USBPre. According to a BAS member familiar
with his recording skills, "
they're exceptionally natural sounding
recordings with heart stopping low bass."
