Date: Sunday, September 20, 2015, 6:00 PM

Place: Boston University, Life Science & Engineering Bldg, 24 Cummington Mall, 1st Floor Conference Room 103, Boston, MA 02215

Guests: Frank Doris & Kurt Van Scoy from Audio-Technica

Topic: Audio-Technica Headphones, Headphone Amps, Cartridges and Microphones

Our September guests will demo and talk primarily about a number of Audio-Technica headphones and headphone amplifiers. The Audio-Technica experts will lead a discussion on a selection of their latest headphones including the Hi-Res Audio-certified ATH-MSR7 on-ear and ATH-CKR10 in-ear models, and the ATH-W1000Z and ATH-A900x audiophile headphones. The ATH-W1000Z is a closed-back dynamic wooden headphone geared for audiophiles and music lovers ($699.95 SRP).

The meeting will also feature the first-ever US presentation of the new high-end AT-HA5050H headphone amp and D/A converter. The AT-HA5050H features vacuum tube circuitry, selectable impedance and other refinements. Attendees will have the opportunity to listen to the AT-5050H (SRP: $5999.00) and the AT-PHA100 portable headphone amp.

Frank and Kurt’s technical presentation will describe how the products work, A-T’s research into HRTF-embedded headphones and more.

Audio-Technica’s large family of audio equipment includes turntables, cartridges, mixers, cables, and a host of related accessories. Frank and Kurt will also demo a turntable/cartridge combination and they’ll offer a sneak peek at a new high-end phono cartridge in advance of its official debut. They’ll also show a few of A-T’s famous reference microphones, which have received great reviews by the audio press and select BAS members. Questions and answers on all their products will follow the presentation.

If that isn’t enough, Audio-Technica will have a prize giveaway of an ATH-PHA100 (SRP: $549.00) to one lucky winner!

Refreshments will be available at 5:30PM
